Upcoming DC films include Joker on October 10th, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020, The Batman(???) on June 25, 2021, The Suicide Squad on August 6, 2021, and Aquaman 2 on December 16, 2022.
JOKER (Oct.10)
"For as long as DC's Dark Knight has appeared on the silver screen, his greatest arch-nemesis hasn't been far behind to torment Batman and the people of Gotham City. Todd Phillips' Joker is a standalone, non-DCEU adaptation of the clown-faced criminal that looks to be an inspired and truly exciting way to explore his (probably) tremendously dark origins. With Joker moving right along through production as we speak, there are quite a bit of details to share about the upcoming release."
"In the words of the studio, Joker is 'an exploration of a man disregarded by society that is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.' The film takes place on the streets of Brooklyn in the '80s where a failed stand-up comedian named Arthur Fleck turns to a life of crime as the infamous Joker. The film will also introduce a handful of characters surrounding Arthur, many certainly playing a role in his unsettling transformation into the iconic villain. The film doesn't seem to be too concerned with honoring the origin story of the comic book character. However, it does have some similarities to the '80s graphic novel, The Killing Joke, which was written by Alan Moore and also features an unsuccessful comic who soon becomes the Agent of Chaos."
BIRDS OF PREY (Feb.7)
The lengthily-named Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a film adaptation of the all-female DC Comics superteam, the Birds of Prey. According to various reports and casting sheets, the movie will follow Harley Quinn as she teams up with three other DC Comics heroes (Black Canary, the Huntress and Renee Montoya) to save a fourth (Cassandra Cain) from the ire of one of Gotham City’s most notorious crime bosses (Black Mask).
Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will pick up with Harley sometime after the events of 2016’s Suicide Squad, where Margot Robbie portrayed the iconic DC Comics character in her live action debut.
WONDER WONDER '84 (Jun.5)[2020]
"After three relatively underwhelming superhero movies, Warner Bros. Pictures finally struck gold with 2017’s Wonder Woman, a critical and commercial hit that broke a long list of box-office records on its way to becoming one of the most successful superhero movies of all time. Its sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, just finished filming, although there’s still a long way to go before its 2020 release date rolls around.
In late October, Warner Bros. announced some changes to its upcoming movie calendar that included a new premiere date for Wonder Woman 1984. The sequel to Wonder Woman will now hit theaters June 5, 2020, instead of its original November 2019 release date."
THE TRENCH
(Aquaman spinoff)
"Warner Bros. recently announced plans to develop an Aquaman spinoff, tentatively titled The Trench. As the name suggests, the film will focus on the Trench, a race of sea creatures that feature rather minimally in Aquaman, but leave a lasting impression.
This comes courtesy of the incredible practical and digital effects that brought The Trench to life on the big screen. In comics, this race of creatures doesn’t have a notably rich history, as it debuted during DC’s New 52 relaunch in 2011. Still, this is a project worthy of anticipation. The following list will look at nine things we hope to see explored in The Trench.
Accompanying the announcement of The Trench were a few brief details about the film itself. One detail worthy of mention is that the script will reportedly be “horror-tinged.” This seems to suggest the final product won’t focus too heavily on the genre."
SUICIDE SQUAD 2 (Aug.6)[2021]
